Being so bogged down by work, don't even have the time to cook and update my food blog :( However, will find time to cook again, miss my own cooking :P Do visit my food blog soon as there will be more up & coming :)

Assimilating & Adjusting

It has been sometime since I last wrote, my blog readers must be wondering where have I been. Well, I have just moved on to a new job in August. Without me realising, time really flies. Now is almost end of September, and I have been truly busy for past 1 month and a half, trying to assimilate and adjusting into the new working environment as well as the nature of job.

My current job is totally a different thing from what I had been doing in the past. I am now a headhunter :) What do I hunt? I hunt for heads! Yes, I hunt for professional heads to be placed at my client's place. In short, I do executive search.

Thus far, I think I am assimilating and adjusting well into the whole new culture and nature of the job, at least I think I am. Well, there are many new things to learn and time are really short. Therefore, I am always striving for betterment! It is not easy but I believe I can do it! Do pray for me :)

Amateur Baker

Since I started my food blog recently, I have embraced another new hobby, which is baking. Obviously, I am an amateur baker. I have never baked any cakes, pastries, cookies or things like that in the past. Maybe, one of the reason is because I don't like to eat them & I find it too taxing to bake (some of the steps are really complicated). Can you believe that even for my birthday, I told people not to buy me a cake, LOL...

What triggered me to start baking?? Well, I think it's because I wanted to challenge myself to the next level in cookery, which is baking. I started to cook when I was only 12 years old, so I would consider myself in the intermediate level in cooking; and now I am gonna start as a amateur baker at the age of 29 :-) It's never too late to try, right?

As I have guessed, baking is apparently much more difficult compared to cooking. I don't know about others, but to me cooking is definitely easier. Since last week, I have baked 2 cakes, the first one (cinnamon tea cake) is successfully done, the other one is not so good in texture but still can eat...hehehe...Sigh...don't know what has gone wrong with my banana cake...Nvm, I will try until it's perfect :P

After that, I tried to bake some cookies. The first one was supposed to be some oat cookies, but I think something has gone wrong somewhere along the way, so it's not cookies anymore, I have turned them into some muesli bars...hahaha so funny cookies became muesli bars...but surprisingly it taste good & crunchy :)

Hmmm...and finally today I have successfully baked some mini butter cookies, good in shapes & good in taste, thumbs up for me, kekeke...:P Finally, I have made it, at least start with the basics first, right?

Never try, never know. Now that I have tried baking, I find it very interesting & there are more to learn. I'll continue to bake & be an amateur (as a pastime, of course I hope to improve on the skills) baker.

M.I.A

Hmmm.... if u are wondering why Michelle has been Missing In Action (M.I.A) for a while and has not been posting for some time, hahaha the reason is I've been on PSP (Play Station Portable) for the past few weeks and got addicted to it :-)

Oh gosh, let me tell u this...PSP is really addictive. Once u get your hands on it, it's really hard to get your hands off it...Recently, Daniel got this 8GB PSP from his sister as a gift. Imagine it, a 8GB PSP, how many games u can put in it, hundreds of games :-) and if u are addicted to just one game is enough to kill u, u'll keep on playing untill u are able to beat the record and to the highest level, haha in short play till u drop...muahahaha....

Haha.... not to mention if u are addicted to more than one game, just imagine how much time u'll spend on the PSP...Sigh.... this is what happened to me... every night I'll spend at least 2 hours on the PSP, and this is the least.... hehehe sometimes when I'm too engrossed in it, I'll play till the wee hours and looking dazed and blur the next day.... just too tired and can't focus....

Finally, I have decided not to touch the PSP anymore, at least for a month or two... :P I told Daniel to take it back home so that I don't see it, don't see means don't play... kekekeke....I must remove my addiction to the PSP, cannot go on like this anymore.

Never try never know, once u tried it's hard to remove.... muahahaha... sounds like drugs...:P

My Gastronomy Attempt

Did I tell you that one of my hobbies is cooking? Yes, I like cooking and trying out new recipes. These two are my recent attempts :) I include the recipes, those who likes cooking may try it out.

~Seafood Fried Rice~

Ingredients:

2 eggs, lightly beaten

2 tablespoons cooking oil

1 onion, cut into wedges

250 g crab stick, cut into cubes

4 cups (740 g) cold, cooked rice

2 tablespoons soy sauce

4 spring onions, diagonally sliced

250 g cooked small prawns, peeled

1. Season the egg with salt & pepper. Heat half the oil in a wok or large frying pan & add the egg, pulling the set egg towards the centre & tilting the pan to let the uncooked egg run to the edge. When almost set, break the egg up into large pieces, so it looks like scrambled egg, & transfer to a plate.

2. Heat the remaining oil in the wok, swirling to coat the base and side. Add the onion and stir-fry over high heat until it starts to turn transparent. Add the crab stick and stir fry for 1 minute. Add the rice and stir fry for 3 minutes, or until the rice is heated through. Add the egg, soy sauce, spring onion and prawns. Heat through, then serve.

~ Sweet Chilli Chicken Wings ~

Ingredients:

2 kg chicken wings

2 cloves garlic, crushed

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 tablespoon oil

1/4 cup (60 ml) sweet chili sauce

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 teaspoons grated ginger

1 tablespoon soft brown sugar

1. Trim the chicken of excess fat and sinew (tendon). Cut each wing into two/three sections, discarding the tips.

2. Mix together the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Add the chicken pieces and stir until coated. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or for several hours).

3. Preheat the oven to moderate 180 C. Drain the chicken pieces. Place the chicken pieces on a roasting rack over a baking tray or in a deep baking dish. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the chicken is crisp and cooked through. Serve hot.

Inconsiderate Act!!!

Sometimes, I just don't seems to understand some people, they just don't tell and expect you to know...Why can't they just tell where and when, so that I can prepare myself in advance. They assumed you know it, YES I THINK I know it, but unfortunately, what I knew is not what is going to happen!

As I was just about to get ready for this outing, I got to know that we are not going to the place that I thought we will be going, and this also caused me going to be late for the outing as I thought the place is just not so far away (in fact, this the other place is very far away!!), therefore I do not need to be prepared too early. I ended up not going because I still have some other very important chores to be done after that, if I go, it will clash with my others arranged tasks.

This "SO INCONSIDERATE ACT" of a person caused my plan all mixed up and it really killed my excitement & enthuasiasm for the day!!!

I Love YOU

You come, You touch & You lift,
You release the heavy-laden;
You heal the hurt,
You care for the unwanted;
You love the unloved,
You listen to the unheard;
and You answer the unanswered,
You reveal to those who is unsure;
and You reassure that it is true.

Yes! You are true,
You cure all the blues,
You show us all the clues,
To what is true.

And who are You?
Yes, You are my Saviour,
My Lord & My God.
I Love YOU.
